Not wanting to miss out on the action of Kosovo's very first FIFA-sanctioned football match, my friend, Natalie, and I headed to 91, the local British pub to watch the game. The bar was packed locals and internationals joining together to watch the new team battle Haiti.
It was a bit of a fairy-tale, really.
And although the game was played in the divided-city of Mitrovicia, the magic was eminent in Prishtina.
Kids skipped school.
Politicians tweeted by-the-minute game updates.
People of all ages and genders packed the pubs.
The game ended in a draw, but from the reactions of the crowd at 91, it could have been a World Cup shootout.
Gëzuar, Kosovo! Looks like you're making it!
It was exciting to be a part of this historic moment for Kosovo.
